tablespoons olive oil
1
 Onion (chopped)
1 Red Bell Pepper (chopped)
1 Green Bell Pepper (chopped)
3 Cloves Garlic (minced)
12 Roma tomatoes (chopped)
2 small cans Tomato Paste
3 small cans Tomato Sauce
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Spaghetti Noodles
Parmesan cheese

1. In a large soup pot - brown Italian Sausage and crumble the meat into chunks. Drain grease.
2. Add olive oil, bell peppers, onion and minced garlic. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add chopped tomato and cook 5 more minutes, still stirring.
3. Add tomato paste and tomato sauce. Fill empty cans with water and add to pot.

4. Add spices to the spaghetti sauce. Add salt and pepper. Stir well.
5. Cook on low heat for 1 1/2 hours. Stir often to keep spaghetti sauce from sticking to bottom of pan. (add more water if sauce becomes too thick)
6. Remove bay leaf and ladle sauce over spaghetti noodles.
Top with Parmesan cheese.

Serves approx 6 people.

  1. It is really meaty! This is not a saucy sauce. It is thick and does not cover your noodles in a runny sauce. My husband and one of my boys liked it. I thought it was ok and my youngest, the picky eater in our family, would not touch it.

  2. Your right this is a very thick sauce, you could have eliminated one can of paste, and added extra tomato sauce to it, then you could of adjusted the spices to your liking, this is a good recipe though.

  3. A little too red winey flavored for me, but I will keep this recipe and alter it slightly next time.

  4. I thought this was pretty good and very quick and easy. I did add double the garlic and I added some rotisserie chicken but other than that a pretty good recipe.

  5. I didnt even try putting all this water in this sauce. I put 3 cups in, but I used my own tomato sauce and tomatoes that I canned too. It was very good. And added more fresh garlic.

  7. People are correct as to the water volume, thats a ridiculous amount. I used Tomatoes from our garden and about 4 cups of H2O with 3 cans of Tom. paste. It came out perfect. I added some other goodies from the garden as well. It was straight up Vege Sauce.

  8. Very tasty and very simple to prepare. I simmered it all day and it made the house smell wonderful. It made a very large pot of sauce, much more than 6 servings as the recipe states. I will definately make this again.
